Baby Massage with Tiddley Pom

So 2 weeks ago, I mentioned to someone that Laurence has been teething and is having a really hard time of it. We went through a whole range of natural treatments/remedies; homeopathic preparations, herbal tinctures, Baltic amber necklaces/anklets... We've been trying all of the above with a little bit of luck on some good days and a generous sprinkling of grouch, fretfulness, tears etc on bad days. It seemed all options were covered in this conversation when they finally advised that baby massage could help. That same week, I got sent some baby massage oil and an accompanying CD from Tiddley Pom - the first ever spa treatment range for babies. Tiddley Pom have developed a 4 step treatment protocol that is supposed to calm and relax both mother (or father, may I add) and baby. Laurence and I are fortunate to be testing stage 2 - the massage oil, and the accompanying music 'whose gentle and calming rhythms mimic a baby's heartbeat'.

Now, Laurence rarely naps for more than half an hour during daytime, even on me. I was curious to test the products but I could not wait till the evening to give these products a try, so I ran him a bath, put the CD on and went to work on him. My boy slept for 2 whole hours, he really must have needed a good massage! And he did not sleep on me the whole time either, I managed to make a 'bed' for him on the sofa, as I expected him to awake 5 minutes after being put down to sleep - only he did not. I waited for half an hour, checking closely that he was still okay, had a cup of tea and even managed to do some housework in an unrushed state as every extra minute was a bonus. Was this co-incidence? Maybe, but I was willing to try again and again and again, and 2 weeks later, I strongly believe it was no coincidence, as we've had 3 similar scenarios post morning massage sessions.

I'm still looking for a baby massage class in my local area as I've been amazed at the results we get, but until I get myself well organised, there's Tiddley Pom's YouTube channel to help. Although I don't get to give daily massage, learning a few of the 'tricks' have been helpful as I get to use them during challenging times and they do seem to work even then. I'm still yet to manage daily sessions, which is what I'd love to do, but we do try 3-4 times a week and it's undoubtedly one of the best moments we share together. We do listen to the music CD pretty much daily though, mostly at bed time as it's so calming and soothing, and it sends us both to sleep before we get to the end of it. I know it's massage music, but till I get the whole set, it'll do *wink*.

Thank you Shoshana for these products, and thank you Tiddley Pom for creating this wonderful range. As you can tell, we love them and I'm planning on purchasing the whole range soon... or I might add it to a wish list for a present for Laurence if anyone offers - whichever comes first. Oh, and there's also the fact I now strongly feel I ought to be a baby massage instructor, but baby steps, LOL... I need to attend a baby massage session first, see how they work, before getting ahead of myself right?
