The Teething Monster

My poor baby. He's really been having a hard time with teething these past few weeks! My sweet, calm, happy little man is still sweet, calm and happy but with a sprinkling of grizzles and frustrations here and there and a drizzle of drool and spit which make him really intensely needy..... and red cheeked. I never knew teething was this bad! And to think it could be worse! See, I know it could be worse because we're averting some of it with an amber teething necklace and homeopathic teething powders and granules. We've taken off the necklace a few times and forgotten to replace it, and his reactions have been more intense, so to speak.

I've bought Sophie the giraffe and a special dentist designed and approved silicone gum soothing toothbrush type thing for him to chew on, but his most favourite things for soothing when he's really irritable are clean fingers and knuckles, spoons and a clean wet, cold piece of cloth. Oh, and slushy frozen breast milk on the spoon is a bonus! Shame it's still so cold he can only manage a half a teaspoon of this before he's overwhelmed by it's coldness, but it really works a treat! Plus it reassures me all the EBM (expressed breast milk) we have in the freezer will get used and not wasted (he absolutely hates bottles, so isn't taking any bottled feeds).

So, anyway, lots of TLC for my little love while we wait for that first and maybe second tooth to break through. I hope it won't be too long... I can't imagine him in such agony for months, so although I have mixed feelings about him growing up so fast, I'd rather the teeth come through sooner rather than later. Poor baby (and parents, especially mummy) needs some respite.

Any helpful tips, involving natural remedies welcome ;-).
